This Web Site is dedicated to wild places and the creatures who make them home. We have spent many years exploring, enjoying and being refreshed by what nature has to offer. Photography allows us to share some of our moments with you and we hope you enjoy them with us.
Chuck and Grace Bartlett were both born and raised in Eastern Oregon and grew up with a passion for the outdoors and wild things. After they were married Grace worked raising two children and Chuck worked in Fisheries Research for the Federal Government. Since 1993 they have been pursuing their passion for photography and nature full time.
Both Chuck and Grace come from a hunting background. During a December archery hunt in the Blue Mountains of Eastern, Washington, a huge mule deer buck approached Chuck in chest deep powder snow at the edge of a major canyon. He was unable to get a shot but at that moment the thought of photography and sharing with others the beauty of what he had just seen planted the seeds for their photography business.
Their photography takes them to many beautiful areas with much wildlife. Much of their time has been spent photographing black-tailed deer and Roosevelt’s elk of the coastal rain forests and high mountains, along with other creatures who share their home with them. During this time they have produced one of the largest bodies of work of these species of any photographers. Black-tailed deer and Roosevelt’s elk photography is difficult due to low light and bad weather, but at the same time very rewarding.
Their work is published in magazines, calendars, books, greeting cards, advertising and other uses. Clients include, Outdoor Life, Field and Stream, National Rifle Association, Ducks Unlimited, Boone & Crockett Club, Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation, Petersen’s Hunting, the Federal Government, states of Washington and Oregon and many others. Their photographs decorate the walls of numerous homes.
